An Instrument of Your Love

O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise.” Psalm 51:15

I came across this journal entry the other day that I had written back in January of this year and decided to post it for today. My I hope is that it blesses you, and glorifies our Heavenly Father.

My life is a song, and you Heavenly Father are the Composer. I am your instrument, and You are the Musician. I would not be able to make music in Your orchestra apart from You. I would not know the right notes to play or the right time to play them. May I be ever so faithful in yeilding myself to your direction, so that no one will ever doubt that the music of my life reveals the melody of your love. I will forever continue to lift my voice to proclaim your faithfulness, to exalt your Holy Name, and rejoice in your coming Kingdom. 🎼🎶

Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Ephesians 5:19

Let the words of my mouth, and the meditations of my heart, be acceptable OH LORD, my strength and my Redeemer. Psalm 19:14

“I will greatly praise the LORD with my mouth; yea, I will praise him among the multitude.” Psalm 109:30

Let them praise his name in the dance: let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp. For the LORD taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation. Let the saints be joyful in glory: let them sing aloud upon their beds. Psalm 149:3-5

Neither yield ye your members [as] instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members [as] instruments of righteousness unto God. Romans 6:13

While I was writing it down on my site, I thought I would do a topic search at the same time of ‘an instrument of God’. (I’m a perpetual multitasker 🤔). Of course there were plenty of scripture links that came up, but one link popped out at me. It was a link to that very topic, so clicking on it, I noticed it was a blog by Sharla Fritz, written 5 and a half years ago. So with a thankful heart to Sharla Fritz, an amazing author and speaker, who had given me her permission, I am including an excerpt from her site from September 8, 2015 blog, titled ‘You Are God’s Chosen Instrument: 3 Ways to Make Music in His Hands’....

I believe we are each God’s chosen instrument. The Father lovingly chooses each of us to play for His glory. He works through each of us in various concert venues around the world. He produces beautiful music in those who yield to His gentle touch.

Heavenly Father, I ask that you protect and guide all who come and visit here, and lead them on the path of Your choosing. I pray that they may become a precious instrument of blessings and praises in Your hands, that their lives will reveal the melody of your love to those they encounter along their way….  In Jesus name I pray, thank You Father, Amen.

  1. Also, you’re going to see in scripture below where God teaches His children to not be friends with perpetually angry people. (Which of course includes the folk who are obsessed with race and politics).

    Proverbs 22.24-25

24 “Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go:

25 Lest thou learn his ways, and get a snare to thy soul.”

    Ecclesiastes 7

9 “Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of fools.

10 Say not thou, What is the cause that the former days were better than these? for thou dost not inquire wisely concerning this.

20 For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.

21 Also take no heed unto all words that are spoken; lest thou hear thy servant curse thee:

22 For oftentimes also thine own heart knoweth that thou thyself likewise hast cursed others.”

      1. Good mornin to you miss Susan.

        You’re right.

The message I posted in my comment wasn’t related to your post.
It was just heavy in my thoughts at that moment, and I was posting that message on multiple platforms at that time. (You probably could have posted about fire trucks and I would have commented that).

So I’m sorry for not posting content in harmony with your post.

Feel free to delete it if you want, and it won’t hurt my feelings.

God bless you and your family.

  4. Thank you for your encouraging post. It put me in mind of one of my favorite quotes, which I have pasted below. God bless!

“Do not be concerned to come to Him with all your insufficiency, all your weakness. Once while Niccoló Paganini, the renowned violinist, was giving a concert, the A-string of his violin broke. Shortly after, the D-string snapped, then finally the G-string. Genius that he was, he continued to play on the E-string alone, which was of silver and could not break. “Only one string remains,” he shouted, “one string plus a Paganini.” The concert entered history. On your harp many strings may be broken. Play the song of faith on what remains. And if there is not even one string left, drum your love to Him on the wood of the harp.

    1. Thank you Craig! What an encouraging and uplifting comment as well. I’m familiar with Richard Wurmbrand, the Founder of the international organization of ‘Voice of the Martyrs’. I have two of his books, ‘The Overcomers’, and ‘Tortured for Christ’. I like that quote. It reminds me of the scripture in Ephesians, but referring more to a spiritual battle. “Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, AND HAVING DONE ALL, TO STAND.”….
      Have a blessed day.

  5. Beautiful post! Thank you for sharing this entry from your journal. The sentence “I would not be able to make music in Your orchestra apart from You” spoke volumes to me. Knowing I have no natural musical ability but do have a bent towards self sufficiency, I love the humble place being part of His orchestra puts me- completely dependent on him to make any iota of harmonious sound. That sound would truly be a “melody of [His] love” and to His glory.

    1. Thank you Beth, and beautifully spoken….

I have to be perfectly candid though, about my journaling. I don’t have good follow through. It’s usually hit and miss. I did write poetry for awhle, but I found it far more easier to sit quietly before the Lord early in the morning, and wait on the Spirit of God to move in me to start praying for people. I do love interceding for those I know or don’t know. I can be more faithful in prayer than I can with reading a book and finishing it, or starting a hobby (I have 2 Native American flutes and a regular silver flute I have yet to start practicing on). My intentions start out well, but eventually lose interest. My husband and I are exactly the same. One thing though he has told me is that we will always be faithful in our walk with the Lord, and finish this race until He calls us home to be with Him.

      1. Sounds like both your interests and priorities are set exactly where they should be- in prayer & walking faithfully with the Lord. You are making the most beautiful music without even lifting a single flute.

      2. Thanks Beth. Appreciate you stopping by again and commenting. I really should give myself over to at least practice, even for a few minutes. 🙄❤
